YOU'RE AFRAID OF RISK
It's much easier to play it safe and stick to what you know. To go through your day-to-day routine, where you know what to expect and don't have to worry about being challenged.
It takes courage to step out of your comfort zone and try something new.
When you go after a goal, you risk not succeeding and feeling bad about yourself. Especially when you tell others about how you will achieve your goals but then quit soon after, people may ridicule you.
There's a lot of risk involved if you want to achieve goals, and it's this risk that keeps most people from going after them.
At the same time there's a lot of risk with not going after your goals. You're level of fulfillment in life will be low. Years will pass and you will look back on your life and wonder why you never gave it a try. That, my friends, will feel worse than if you go after your goals and don't succeed.
When you don't succeed at achieving a goal, you still win. You've won because you were able to push yourself past your boundaries and get a sense of what it takes. You become a stronger person who is more self-reliant.
It's the risk that makes it so sweet.
YOU WANT TO ACHIEVE WITHOUT A CLEAR DIRECTION
You can't reach your destination if you don't know where you're going. That's obvious.
Let's say you decide to start a software development company. You have a lot of knowledge with building software and you're good at working with computers, but you don't understand the business side of it. You've never hired anyone and don't know how you would go about achieving the end result.
You're not going to get far because you don't know how to get there. The only solution then is to begin researching it and developing a step by step plan.
The same goes for physical fitness. You know you want to lose 20 lbs, but you don't know how. You need to figure out your workouts, the days you workout vs. the days you don't, the foods you will eat, the supplements you will take, and so on.
If you don't have a direction, then keeping focused and motivated will be a struggle. So set smaller goals along with your big ones. Focus on the daily tasks that will eventually lead you to the final result.
YOU HAVE A POOR SELF IMAGE
If you don't think you deserve to achieve your goals, then you will never make them happen.
It's all based around how you feel internally. If you believe that you deserve to get fit and feel attractive, then you will find a way to reach that goal. However if you don't believe that you deserve it, then you will do things to keep yourself from it.
Yes, that's right. You can be your own worst enemy.
It's the negative thoughts that ruin our chances of success. We all have things that we wish we could get over and feel better about. Whether it be our ex who decided to leave us for someone else, or our boss who decided to fire us because they didn't feel that we were a productive member of the team.
The more we keep your emotions in the dark, the bigger they will grow. If we don't face our issues then we will never find peace, and we will never achieve the goals we set for ourselves.
The solution then is to love yourself. Be true to yourself. Don't hide things from yourself, and realize that it's the negative thoughts that you must overcome.
That is what it's all about. Achieving goals isn't just about adding another list to your successes, it's about growing happier and more fulfilled in life. You can only do that by having love for yourself.
